HILLSBORO, IL / ACCESS Newswire / April 23, 2026 / Hillsboro Health has been ranked one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation for Best Practices in Patient Satisfaction by the National Rural Health Association. The recognition highlights Hillsboro Health’s commitment to providing care that patients trust, value and recommend. The award places Hillsboro Health among the nation’s top rural hospitals for patient satisfaction.

The Top 20 designation is determined by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, which evaluates Critical Access Hospitals nationwide using publicly available data. Hillsboro Health ranked among the top rural hospitals in the country across all patient satisfaction categories.
The National Rural Health Association recognizes hospitals with Best Practice awards to highlight rural facilities that deliver exceptional care while meeting the unique needs of their communities. For the patient satisfaction award, hospitals are measured using the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, commonly known as HCAHPS. This survey provides patient feedback on communication, responsiveness of staff, overall hospital stay experience.
Hillsboro Health will be formally recognized during the National Rural Health Association’s Critical Access Hospital Conference later this year.
Hillsboro Health, formerly called Hillsboro Area Hospital, is a local, independent health care organization comprised of a 25-bed, not-for-profit, Critical Access Hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. Hillsboro Health also offers primary and specialty care, therapy services and a fitness and aquatics center.
